UK Centre for Carnival Arts

February 2005 – December 2009: contract as Project Manager for LUTON CARNIVAL ARTS DEVELOPMENT TRUST.  Following a commission to write their Development Plan for ACE, I was asked back by LCADT to take over the management of their £7.5m capital project following the departure of their previous Project Manager and managed the development and construction of the UK Centre for Carnival Arts (the first such building in the UK), which opened in May 2009.

Spread over two buildings with a central courtyard, the Centre houses a performance space, teaching rooms, offices, an incubation unit, café-bar and a childcare facility.  Funders included Arts Council England, European Regional Development Fund, East of England Development Agency and Luton Borough Council.  The building achieved a BREEAM ‘Good’ rating and was shortlisted for Project of the Year in the Building Magazine Awards 2009.
